Listed winner and stakes producer Loulwa: dam of Bella Lulu

Loulwa; Listed winner and stakes producer is dam of Bella Lulu

Blue Diamond Stud homebreds Bella Lulu and Decorated Knight struck for Saleh Al Homaizi and Imad Al Sagar and Roger Varian on Friday to secure an across-the-card double.

First up was Bella Lulu, who followed up on the promise of her recent seasonal debut at Salisbury to win the 7f maiden at Doncaster. The daughter of Iffraaj was never seriously challenged to win by two lengths.

Bella Lulu becomes the third winner out of Loulwa, a 370,000gns yearling purchase by Tony Nerses in 2005. Sent to Jeremy Noseda, Loulwa was a high-class filly, winning the 2007 Listed River Eden Stakes at Lingfield. Her first foal is classy sprinter Justineo – a Listed winner and Group 2-placed – while her third is Elhaam, a winner in 2014 and now a member of the BDS broodmare band.

Loulwa, a half-sister to high-class sprinter Galeota, has a yearling colt by Dansili, a colt foal by Oasis Dream and is back in foal to Oasis Dream.

At Haydock, the highly regarded Decorated Knight took another step up the ladder when successful in the 1m maiden.

The son of Galileo was second to subsequent Group 3 winner Commemorative on his debut at Doncaster last year and showed a good turn of foot on this occasion to get off the mark at the third time of asking; caught in a pocket a furlong out, Decorated Knight had to be switched wide by Graham Lee and showed a striking change of gears to run down the leaders under hands and heels.

‘Value for a larger margin of victory [a length-and-quarter], he´s pretty useful,’ commented the Racing Post.

Decorated Knight is the first foal out of Pearling, a sister to Giant’s Causeway and You’resothrilling, herself dam of the brilliant pair Gleneagles and Marvellous.

Bought for 1.3 million guineas by the stud in 2011, Pearling has a two-year-old colt by Dubawi named Azizaan in training with Roger Varian. She also has a yearling filly by Frankel, a colt foal by Dansili and is back in foal to Galileo.
