Excellent third for Nashwa in the Oaks
4 June 2022
We were delighted with Nashwa‘s performance in the Oaks at Epsom on Friday, in which she ran a game third under Hollie Doyle.
Well positioned by Hollie on the rail, Nashwa made her move between horses into third and went on to hold her place behind Tuesday and Emily Upjohn, despite not appearing to relish the 1m4f with the same zest as the front two.
“She has run great,” said co-trainer John Gosden. “I think she just ran out of stamina the last 50 yards up the hill. She would be better dropping back in trip but she has run a superb race.”
Nashwa has done nothing but flourish this season under the care of John and Thady Gosden, scoring at the first time of asking at Haydock in April before running out the smooth winner of the Listed Haras de Bouquetot Fillies’ Trial at Newbury.
She could be next seen in the Prix de Diane at Chantilly.
The homebred daughter of Frankel is out of Princess Loulou, who carried our colours to second place in the Group 1 Prix Jean Romanet, and a half-sister to smart handicapper Louganini.
Princess Loulou has a yearling filly by Decorated Knight and a colt foal by Dubawi. The daughter of Pivotal is back in foal to Frankel.
