The foaling season is well underway at Blue Diamond Stud.

So far, the stud has welcomed 20 foals, including two from the first crop of Frankel and a pair of fillies by the mighty Galileo. The first foals by Sayif, winner of the Gr. 2 Diadem Stakes for Saleh Al Homaizi and Imad Al Sagar, have also entered the world, and appear to have inherited their sire’s build and colour.

The first Frankel foal arrived on February 3 when Turama, a half-sister to Gr. 1 Sun Chariot Stakes winner Spinning Queen, gave birth to an attractive chestnut colt. He has since been followed by a Frankel filly out of Pearling, a Storm Cat sister to Giant’s Causeway.

Turama has been covered by Invincible Spirit while Pearling is set to visit Dansili.

Successful producer Majestic Sakeena is the dam of a Galileo filly as is her Listed-winning daughter Nouriya, winner of the Lyric Fillies’ and John Musker Fillies’ Stakes. Majestic Sakeena, who is also the dam of Listed-placed Lady Nouf as well as promising three-year-old Yuften, is visiting Frankel. Nouriya will be covered by Henrythenavigator.

Two high-profile new additions to the stud, the Tattersalls’ purchases Soon and Ellbeedee, have also foaled in recent weeks.

Listed Vincent O’Brien Ruby Stakes winner and Group Three-placed Soon, a Galileo daughter of Irish 1,000 Guineas heroine Classic Park, foaled an attractive Oasis Dream filly in January and has been covered by Dubawi.

The winning Ellbeedee, a daughter of Dalakhani related to Just The Judge, is the dam of a Lawman filly and is the second Blue

Champion Authorized, meanwhile, is the sire of a good-looking colt out of Crystal Swan, a Dalakhani half-sister to Grade Three winner Grande Melody from the famous Crystal Spray family. Crystal Swan is part of Intello’s first book this year.

Tony Nerses, advisor to Saleh Al Homaizi and Imad Al Sagar, said:

“This time of year is always exciting for any stud, and with 30 mares due to foal for us this year, the 2014 crop promises to be our biggest to date.

“Particularly promising are the two Frankel foals, both of whom are striking individuals, as is the Oasis Dream filly out of Soon, who is bred to be a Classic contender. There are also high hopes for the Galileo fillies.”
