€62,000 filly for Decorated Knight at Goffs
12 February 2022
With a €62,000 filly to his name, it was a good Goffs February Sale for Decorated Knight this week.
The filly in question is particularly well-bred as a daughter of the brilliant sprinter Gilt Edge Girl, and on a €62,000 valuation to Hugo Merry, was the most expensive yearling filly to change hands at Goffs on Wednesday.
Gilt Edge Girl, a tough daughter of Monsieur Bond, captured three stakes races for Clive Cox, notably the Group 1 Prix de l’Abbaye at Longchamp and Group 3 Ballyogan Stakes.
This is a fast family that owes much of its success to the management of the Aga Khan Studs before faring well in the hands of Downclose and Whitsbury Manor Studs. Gilt Edge Girl herself is a half-sister to the Group 2 Flying Childers Stakes winner Godfrey Street, and has gone on to maintain that successful tradition at stud as the dam of Listed scorer Time’s Arrow.
In addition, Gilt Edge Girl’s two-year-old by Saxon Warrior realised €270,000 as a yearling to MV Magnier and is in training with Aidan O’Brien.
This filly is bred on a variation of the wildly successful Galileo – Danehill cross and was offered by the Irish National Stud.
Decorated Knight looks poised to make a notable impact with his first three-year-olds this year following a start that includes highly promising winners such as SILVER BULLET LADY, WIND YOUR NECK IN, DAMAAR and ZAIN NIGHTS out of his first two-year-old runners.
The multiple Group 1 winner stands for €7,500 at the Irish National Stud.
