Madam Devious gained a deserved success in the 5f novice race at Newcastle on Wednesday evening to become our second homebred within a week after Riviera Nights.

The daughter of Dutch Art, who has been knocking on the door for Robert Cowell, was always close up under Joe Fanning and ran on well to win by half a length.

She is the first foal out of her winning dam Bouyrin, a half-sister to Oh So Sharp Stakes heroine Alsindi who also has a yearling filly by Dark Angel and a colt foal from the first crop of The Gurkha.

Madam Devious is catalogued as lot 100 in the Tattersalls Autumn Horses in Training Sale later this month.

Meanwhile, Bouyrin’s yearling filly is will be offered through New England Stud as lot 966 at Book 2 of the Tattersalls October Sale.
