Justineo: half-sister to visit Golden Horn

Blue Diamond Stud’s mating plans for 2016 were outlined in a feature by Tom Pennington in the Racing Post recently.

Stud advisor Tony Nerses revealed that the stud has secured a breeding right in the brilliant Derby and Arc hero Golden Horn.

The Listed-placed Alfajer and Bella Nouf, a winning half-sister to Justineo, will be covered by the Dalham Hall Stud stallion this year while Justineo’s dam Loulwa will be part of Muhaarar’s first book.

Princess Margaret Stakes winner Princess Noor foaled a stunning filly by New Approach last month and is booked back to Australia.

“He made plenty of appeal on what he achieved as a racehorse and we’ll be sending Alfajer using the breeding right, as well as Justineo’s half-sister Bella Lulu.

“We take into account lots of factors when we make the mating plans. The owners take huge interest and have a lot of input.

“We’re aiming to produce the best possible racehorses and to succeed you shouldn’t compromise on quality.

“The stats are there to tell you about past performance but we’re looking to breed future performance. Statistics are important but the matings have to feel right and you shouldn’t make the decision purely on them.”
