‘Decorated Knight has the looks and class to prove top value’ – Racing Post
16 February 2020
Decorated Knight received a glowing assessment from the Racing Post’s Bloodstock Desk as they discussed ‘value sires’ in the publication’s Breeding On A Budget pullout last week.
“It hardly seems believable that a three-time winning Group 1 son of Galileo from an exceptional family could qualify to be included in this list, but, at a generous-looking €9,000, that is precisely where the Irish National Stud’s Decorated Knight finds himself,” wrote James Thomas.
“The now eight-year-old won the Jebel Hatta, Tattersalls Gold Cup and Irish Champion Stakes, in which he beat no less a rival than Poet’s Word, before taking up stud duties, when his owners announced they would be lending their colour bearer support both in terms of mares and in the sale ring.
“They have made good on their word in a big way, not only sending Decorated Knight a host of blue-chip mares, but signing for a number of foals at public auction, purchases that contributed to a healthy foal average of 58,715gns. However, it was Jamie Railton who went to 190,000gns for Decorated Knight’s most expensive offspring, a colt out of Princess Noor.
“As if that weren’t enough, Decorated Knight – who is out of Pearling, a sister to Giant’s Causeway – has also let down into a stunning-looking physical model. The sum total of those attributes makes his fee look very appealing indeed.”
Further to that, the Racing Post awarded Decorated Knight the badge of ‘STAR VALUE’
“Top-class and blue blooded, the son of Galileo boasts all the credentials of a stallion who should stand for significantly more.”
As the below list outlines, Decorated Knight will once again be heavily supported by Blue Diamond Stud in 2020.
