Decorated Knight 3yo Zain Nights wins well at Newbury
15 July 2022
Decorated Knight‘s fine summer run continued at Newbury on Friday thanks to the success of Zain Nights – bred by Blue Diamond Stud – in the 1m4f handicap at Newbury.
The Roger and Harry Charlton-trained three-year-old made all under William Buick to fend off all challengers and win well by a length-and-a-half.
Zain Nights made a fine impression at the back end of last season when successful on his second start at Newbury. Once hitting form this year, he has been an admirably consistent performer, with two placed runs in smart handicaps at Newbury preceding Friday’s victory.
“Zain Nights goes on all ground and will make a nice horse for the future – he’s earning his keep,” said Roger Charlton.
Owned by Asaad Al Banwan, Zain Nights was bred by Blue Diamond Stud out of Missy O’Gwaun, also the dam of last year’s Listed Celebration Stakes winner Fourhometwo. The daughter of King’s Best is a sister to Japanese Group 3 winner Cosmo Meadow and from the good Neil Jones family of Millenary and Knight To Behold.
Zain Nights is one of 17 winners for Decorated Knight out of a first crop that numbers 39 named foals. In addition to Zain Nights, the list includes two-time winner Damaar and the exciting Kind Gesture, both also bred by Blue Diamond Stud. Danish 2,000 Guineas winner Charming Knight, the well-regarded Knight Of Honour and dual scorer Knightlaila are also member of his first crop while his sole 2yo runner out of his second crop is Ferrari Queen, who earned quotes of 33/1 following her impressive debut success at Doncaster.
