Daughter of Group 3 winner Lady Wingshot brings foaling season to a close

6 May 2020

Foaling season at Blue Diamond Stud drew to a close on May 4 with the birth of a lovely filly by Mastercraftsman out of Group 3 winner Lady Wingshot.

Over the course of the 2020 foaling season, 28 foals have been born at Blue Diamond Stud, among them six by our own multiple Group 1 winner Decorated Knight. The stud has also welcomed two foals from the first crop of American Triple Crown hero Justify; an Invincible Spirit sister to our Group 2 Gimcrack Stakes winner Ajaya; a Kingman colt out of stakes winner Dawn Of Hope; a No Nay Never filly out of Group 3-winning two-year-old Shaden; a colt from the sole crop of Roaring Lion; a Saxon Warrior colt out of Group 1 winner Gilt Edge Girl; and a pair of foals by top French sire Siyouni.

The Mastercraftsman filly is the sixth foal out of Lady Wingshot, winner of the Group 3 Fairy Bridge Stakes. Lady Wingshot is already the dam of two winners in Expecting To Fly – who was Godolphin’s 5,000th winner – and I Am Magical.

The Lawman mare also has a three-year-old Zoffany filly, Philippa Victoria, in training with Amy Murphy and a two-year-old Dubawi colt, Desert Pioneer, in training with Roger Charlton.

Just days before, the stud also welcomed its final colt of the season in a striking first-crop son of US Navy Flag out of Cristielle.

The colt is the first foal out of his dam, who boasts real Blue Diamond connections as a granddaughter of foundation mare Majestic Sakeena; by Australia, Cristielle is a half-sister to our Group 2 Duke Of Cambridge Stakes winner Aljazzi, who set a sale record when sold for 1 million guineas at the 2018 Tattersalls Autumn Horses in Training Sale, and out of two-time Listed winner Nouriya.
