Damaar, bred at Blue Diamond Stud out of Arwa, made his own contribution to Decorated Knights hot run on Sunday when getting up close home to land the 7f handicap at Chelmsford City.

Trained by John and Thady Gosden on behalf of Mohammed Al-Qatami and Khalid Al-Mudhaf, Damaar was winning for the second time having previously made a successful debut at Sandown Park last September.

Damaar is the first foal out of Arwa, a winning Holy Roman Emperor half-sister to the outstanding stayer Order Of St George. Other half-siblings include the Group/Grade 3 winners Angel Terrace and Asperity while Arwa’s granddam is American champion 2yo Storm Song.

Damaar‘s two-year-old sister, Amazing Nadia, is also in training with John and Thady Gosden. She also has a filly foal by Camelot and is in foal to Wootton Bassett.

His success arrives hot on the heels of that of Ferrari Queen, Decorated Knight’s first two-year-old runner of the year who was introduced at 33/1 for next year’s 1,000 Guineas after winning well at Doncaster last Saturday, and Kind Gesture, who made it two on the bounce when the 10-length winner of the mile novice at Windsor for Prince A A Faisal on Sunday.

He is one of 17 winners for Decorated Knight out of a first crop that numbers 39 named foals. In addition to Damaar and the exciting Kind Gesture (also bred by Blue Diamond Stud), the list includes Danish 2,000 Guineas winner Charming Knight, the well-regarded Knight Of Honour and dual scorer Knightlaila.
