Colts by Oasis Dream and Declaration Of War among new arrivals
6 February 2015
A busy week has seen the stud welcome five foals, including an exciting Oasis Dream colt out of Pretty Polly Stakes runner-up Lady Nouf.
Foaled on February 4, the colt is the first foal out of his talented dam, herself bred by Blue Diamond Stud out of Majestic Sakeena.
Lady Nouf was trained by William Haggas to win her juvenile debut at Leicester, in which she beat Secret Gesture, and later showed high-class form when running subsequent Oaks winner Talent to half-a-length in the Pretty Polly Stakes at Newmarket.
She was also second in the Lyric Stakes at York and third in the Ballymacoll Stud Stakes at Newbury.
By Teofilo, Lady Nouf is a half-sister to Listed winner Nouriya – also a Blue Diamond resident – and last season’s high-class three-year-old Yuften. She is set to visit Iffraaj this season.
Woodland Scene, a half-sister to Crowded House from the extended family of Storm Cat, foaled an excellent colt on February 5 from the first crop of Declaration Of War. He is the second foal out of Woodland Scene, who will be covered by Mastercraftsman this season.
The daughter of Act One was purchased by Tony Nerses for 70,000gns at the 2012 Tattersalls December Sale and has a yearling filly by Sayif.
Blue Diamond will continue their support of Declaration Of War this year having sent two mares, Lady Wingshot and Queen Sarra, out to Kentucky to visit the Coolmore stallion.
On what was a busy day on February 3, Rappel and Bouyrin foaled fillies by Invincible Spirit and Dutch Art.
The winning Rappel, a Royal Applause relation to high-class sprinter Majestic Missile, will be covered by Dream Ahead in 2015 while Bouyrin, a winning Invincible Spirit half-sister to Group 3-winning two-year-old Alsindi, is going to Henrythenavigator.
And on February 6, Blue Diamond welcomed their eighth foal of the season when Epiphany foaled a filly by Bated Breath.
Epiphany is the dam of four winners from as many runners, including the promising three-year-old Zari and well regarded Idder, and hopes will be high that her latest filly can follow suit.
The winning daughter of Zafonic, who is related to Irish 2,000 Guineas winner Indian Haven, is booked back to Exceed And Excel.
