Brave run by Toofi to take second in Stewards’ Cup
1 August 2015
Toofi ran a terrific race on Saturday to take second behind Magical Memory in the Stewards’ Cup at Glorious Goodwood.
Making his second start following a layoff, the Roger Varian-trained four-year-old made steady headway on the far side and stayed on well under pressure to get within three-quarters of length of the winner in the 27-runner contest.
The performance brought Toofi‘s overall earnings to over £140,000.
Toofi was purchased for 220,000gns as a yearling by Tony Nerses from the Coulonces Consignment at Book 1 of the 2012 Tattersalls October Sale. He has kept good company throughout his career, capturing the £100,000 Tattersalls Millions Median Auction Trophy at Newmarket as a two-year-old and running second in the Listed King Charles II Stakes at the same track at three.
The son of Henrythenavigator was bred by Team Hogdala out of the Royal Applause mare Silver Kestrel, a sister to Grade 1 winner Ticker Tape.
It is also the further family of our mare Woodland Scene, who has a yearling filly by Sayif and colt foal by Declaration Of War.
