Brave Euginio runs second in Wolferton Stakes
20 June 2018
Euginio ran an excellent race to finish second in the Listed Wolferton Stakes at Royal Ascot on Tuesday.
Although sent off at 33/1, the son of Fastnet Rock has been quietly progressive for Richard Hannon and equipped with first time blinkers as well as the strength of Silvestre de Sousa, did us proud to hold on for second behind Monarchs Glen after making much of the running.
Tony Nerses, said: “I was delighted with that performance. He is a tough genuine horse.
“The draw wasn’t ideal but he overcame it. He was ridden to perfection by Silvestre (de Sousa).
“We are very happy. There is still better to come from him.
“Everything is open to him from here.”
Bred by Arkle Bloodstock, Euginio was purchased as a yearling by Tony Nerses for 155,000gns out of the Clare Castle Stud draft at the 2015 Tattersalls October Sale.
The son of Fastnet Rock is a half-brother to Listed winner Handassa and out of Starstone, a Diktat half-sister to top sprinters Pastoral Pursuits and Goodricke.
