Out of our Prix Jean Romanet runner-up Princess Loulou, Nashwa went into many notebooks when third on debut for John and Thady Gosden at Newmarket at the back-end of her two-year-old season.
Always well-regarded, the Frankel filly ran out the easy winner of her maiden at Haydock Park the following spring before taking the Listed Haras de Bouquetot Fillies’ Trial at Newbury.
Nashwa found the 12 furlong trip of the Oaks beyond her at Epsom but in a show of class and resilience, bounced back just over two weeks later to take a thrilling renewal of the Prix de Diane at Chantilly under regular partner Hollie Doyle.
From there, Nashwa added to her Group 1 tally with a ready win in the Nassau Stakes at Goodwood, swooping from the back of the field to secure victory.
She later went down only narrowly to Place Du Carrousel in the Group 1 Prix de l'Opera on Arc day at Longchamp, despite facing the double burden of a wide draw and bad ground, before signing off her season with a creditable fourth in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf at Keeneland.
Nashwa was kept in training at four and following a pair of placed efforts in the Prix Corrida and Hopping Stakes, bounced back to her brilliant best with an emphatic victory in the Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket - always travelling well under Hollie Doyle, the filly powered through the field before quickening clear to win easily by five lengths.
Such a performance opened up a host of miling options for the filly but she was seen next in the Nassau Stakes at Goodwood, where she ran a fine third despite the bad ground.
From there Nashwa went to York to take on the colts in the Juddmonte International and she ran yet another excellent race to finish second to stablemate Mostahdaf with the top 3yo Paddington back in third. She backed that up next time out with a closing third to Auguste Rodin in the Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown.
Nashwa was retired at the end of 2024 to join our broodmare band.
