BDS welcomes Decorated Knight relation to Monterosso
22 February 2021
It promises to be an exciting spring and early summer for Decorated Knight, who has two-year-olds in many of Britain’s top yards. But for now the stud is enjoying welcoming members of his third crop, the latest of whom is a well-connected colt out of Penlight.
Foaled on February 9, the colt is the first foal out of Penlight, a daughter of leading broodmare sire Shamardal who is a half-sister to Dubai World Cup hero Monterosso, now a successful sire in Japan. Penlight is also a half-sister to the dam of Australian Group 1 winner Silent Sedition and out of the Group 1 Coolmore Classic heroine Porto Roca.
Penlight is booked back to Kodiac.
Homebred Decorated Knight captured three Group 1 races, including the Irish Champion Stakes, for Saleh Al Homaizi and Imad Al Sagar. Beautifully bred, as a Galileo relation to champion sire Giant’s Causeway, he stands at the Irish National Stud for €7,500 – and any breeder using him this year is entitled to a free nomination in 2022.
