21 May 2017
Vik The Billy, bred and raised at Blue Diamond Stud, made it two from two in impressive style on Sunday for Sergio Dettori when the easy winner of the Listed Premio Alessandro Perrone at Capannelle.
The daughter of Bated Breath scored easily by two-and-a-quarter lengths from Phryne. She is the third stakes winner for Blue Diamond Stud this year following Decorated Knight, successful in the Group 1 Jebel Hatta at Meydan, and Listed winner Aljazzi.
Previously successful at Milan, Vik The Billy is one of five winners out of Epiphany, a winning daughter of Zafonic purchased by Tony Nerses to join the stud in 2006.
Epiphany’s earlier winners include Agerzam, Idder and Zari, all of whom ran to an useful level.
Epiphany is a half-sister to three winners and out of a half-sister to Irish 2,000 Guineas winner Indian Haven and Italian champion Count Dubois, subsequently a successful sire in South Africa, from the famous Cliveden Stud family of Madame Dubois and Daggers Drawn.
Epiphany also has a yearling filly by Exceed And Excel and a colt foal by Sayif. She is due to return to Bated Breath this year.
Blue Diamond Stud is also home to Epiphany’s winning daughter Zari. The daughter of Azamour foaled a colt by War Command in February and returned to the Coolmore stallion this year.
