Special Season was introduced at 25/1 for next year’s 2,000 Guineas after making an impressive winning debut at Sandown on Friday.

The William Haggas-trained colt is yet another 2yo winner this season bred at Blue Diamond Stud. Another is the unbeaten Dream Ahead colt Raucous.

Special Season hit the front a furlong out in the 7f contest and quickly drew clear to score by seven lengths.

Special Season is a nice horse,” winning jockey Pat Cosgrave told the Racing Post. “They went a pretty good gallop and that played into my hands, but I was impressed.”

Special Season, by Lope De Vega, was bred by Saleh Al Homaizi and Imad Al Sagar out of Keep Dancing, a winning daughter of Distant Music purchased by Tony Nerses for 70,000gns at the 2012 Tattersalls December Sale. She is a half-sister to July Stakes winner Alhebayeb, now standing at Tara Stud, and classy sprinter Humidor.

Keep Dancing has a yearling colt by Sayif, a colt foal by Mastercraftsman and is in foal to Dark Angel.

Special Season was sold at last year’s Tattersalls October Sale for 90,000gns to Rabbah Bloodstock.
