BDS-bred Rikona strikes again
3 April 2023
Rikona's successful winter for Kevin Philippart de Foy continued on Monday as the filly struck at Lingfield Park for her fourth career success.
The daughter of Shalaa, who was bred and raised at Blue Diamond Stud, was played late by Paddy Bradley in the 1m4f handicap to run down the favourite Arenas Del Tiempo and win easily by over two lengths.
"She's very consistent but need things to go her way," Paddy Bradley told Sky Sports Racing. "It was a four-runner race but there was pace in it. Coming down the hill, it was just a case of not getting there too soon. She's consistent and on the up, so we're very pleased. It set up nicely and she's done it well in the end."
Previously successful Ffos Las in August, Lingfield in December and Kempton in February, Rikona was bred by us out of Paradise Sea, a Stormy Atlantic half-sister to Champion Stakes winner David Junior.
