BDS-bred Louganini strikes again in Saudi Arabia

23 September 2023

The Blue Diamond-bred Louganini struck again on Saturday when successful in the National Day Cup, the feature event at Ta'If in Saudi Arabia.

Louganini won by nearly two lengths from Khartoum to record his third success in Saudi Arabia and sixth overall.

The Zoffany gelding was bred and raised at Blue Diamond Stud and is the first foal out of Princess Loulou, a smart filly herself who won the Listed Gillies Fillies Stakes at Doncaster and ran second at the top level in the Prix Jean Romanet.

Originally trained by Roger Charlton, Louganini won on his debut as a two-year-old at Newmarket for Imad Alsagar and later developed into a smart handicapper, with authoritative wins at Haydock Park and Ascot contributing to an official rating of 100.

In addition to Nashwa, now a three-time Group 1 winner, Princess Loulou also has a two-year-old filly by Decorated Knight named Mesmerising with John and Thady Gosden.

The daughter of Pivotal has a yearling colt by Dubawi catalogued to Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Sale.
