BDS-bred Louganini caps great week for Princess Loulou

15 July 2023

Louganini capped a great week for his dam Princess Loulou on Saturday when landing the JCSA Award, one of the day's feature events at Ta'If in Saudi Arabia. His win for Fihan Bin Faisal Almindeel Sons came a day after that of his half-sister Nashwa in the Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket.

The Zoffany gelding was bred and raised at Blue Diamond Stud and is the first foal out of Princess Loulou (pictured bottom right), a smart filly herself who won the Listed Gillies Fillies Stakes at Doncaster and ran second at the top level in the Prix Jean Romanet.

Originally trained by Roger Charlton, Louganini won on his debut as a two-year-old at Newmarket for Imad Alsagar and later developed into a smart handicapper, with authoritative wins at Haydock Park and Ascot contributing to an official rating of 100.

In addition to Nashwa, now a three-time Group 1 winner, Princess Loulou also has a two-year-old filly by Decorated Knight named Mesmerising with John and Thady Gosden.

The daughter of Pivotal also has a yearling colt by Dubawi.
