Arwa and May Rose pull off the double
17 August 2016
The Charlie Hills-trained pair Arwa and May Rose pulled off a great double on Tuesday when successful in their assignments at Ripon and Wolverhampton.
Arwa, a two-year-old half-sister to Order Of St George, ran out the impressive winner of her maiden over 6f at Ripon while May Rose followed up her recent success at Windsor by taking the 6f handicap at Wolverhampton.
Arwa was always travelling well in the hands of Danny Tudhope and quickened well when asked to win by two and a quarter lengths.
Purchased for €360,000 by Tony Nerses at last year’s Goffs Orby Sale, she becomes the seventh winner out of the Gone West mare Another Storm. She is currently in the limelight as the dam of Gold Cup hero Order Of St George but her other winners include Prix Paul de Moussac winner Asperity, American Grade 3 winner Angel Terrace and Listed winner Sehoy.
Another Storm is also a daughter of American champion 2yo Storm Song and a half-sister to this season’s Grade 1-placed 3yo Trojan Nation.
Meanwhile, at Wolverhampton May Rose overcame a wide draw to run down the competition and win her second race on the bounce.
Also an Orby graduate, May Rose boasts an excellent pedigree as a three-parts sister to last year’s Challenge Stakes winner Cable Bay, now a popular stallion at Highclere Stud. Their dam, Rose De France, is a Diktat half-sister to the Classic-placed Bowman as well as the dam of champions Mastery and Kirklees.
