Al Kazeem colt first foal of 2015
29 January 2015
Blue Diamond Stud welcomed their first foal of the season on Tuesday morning when Sensiz foaled an attractive bay colt by triple Group 1 winner Al Kazeem.
The colt, described by Tony Nerses as ‘active with good bone and outlook‘, is something of a collectors item as a member of the select first crop belonging to the sub-fertile Al Kazeem.
The son of Dubawi, who won the Tattersalls Gold Cup, Prince of Wales and Eclipse Stakes, was retired to stand at the Royal Studs but returned to training in May after failing to post the required fertility levels. He later ran second in the QIPCO British Champions Stakes for owner John Deer.
The colt is the first foal out of Sensiz, a winning daughter of Marju who was the first mare confirmed in foal to Al Kazeem last season. A 180,000gns yearling purchase by Tony Nerses, she is a half-sister to Listed-winning sprinter Sugar Free and out of Prix Robert Papin heroine Much Faster.
Sensiz is booked back to Oasis Dream.
Also on Tuesday, Listed winner Soon foaled a ‘classy’ chestnut filly by Dubawi.
Out of Aidan O’Brien’s first Classic winner, Irish 1,000 Guineas heroine Classic Park, Soon was saddled by O’Brien to win the 2012 Listed Vincent O’Brien Ruby Stakes at Killarney and run second in the Group 3 Gallinule Stakes at the Curragh.
The daughter of Galileo, who is a half-sister to Epsom Derby runner-up Walk In The Park, joined the Blue Diamond Stud broodmare band when sold to Tony Nerses for 800,000gns at the 2013 Tattersalls December Sale. The Dubawi filly is her second foal and Soon is booked to revisit Dubawi in 2015.
