Ajaya to shuttle to Chatswood Stud in Australia
12 May 2017
Blue Diamond Stud homebred Ajaya is set to shuttle to Australia to stand at Chatswood Stud, the same outfit that launched his sire Invincible Spirit in Australia in 2003.
Ajaya, who is out of our Hennessy mare Nessina and related to Australian champion sire Redoute’s Choice, beat Ribchester when successful in the Group 2 Gimcrack Stakes at York and ran a close second in the Prix Robert Papin. He s standing his first season at Rathbarry Stud for €10,000.
As a two-year-old, Ajaya earned a Timeform rating of 116, higher than that of Cable Bay (112), Zebedee (111) and his own sire Invincible Spirit (112).
His trainer, William Haggas was full of praise upon his retirement. “Ajaya was a high class two year old blessed with bags of speed and a good temperament,” he said. “His performance in the Gimcrack was a top-class one, and he loved fast ground. He is a thoroughly likeable colt who thrived on racing.”
Chatswood studmaster Greg Willis is eager to watch Ajaya follow in his sire’s footsteps. “Ajaya is the right shuttle stallion to bring to Australia,” he said. “He loved firm tracks, Redoute’s Choice is in his female family and of course Ajaya will take his place in the same barn that his sire, Invincible Spirit did when he stood here.
“He is serving quality mares in his first Northern Hemisphere season in Ireland where some astute breeder’s have noted his uncanny resemblance to his sire. I couldn’t be more confident he will make it as a sire in Australia. We will be supporting him very well.”
Ajaya will stand for A$13,000 + GST.
Blue Diamond have supported Ajaya in Ireland with 16 mares this season, among them Sewards Folly, dam of Sayif and Hunter Street, the Group 2-placed Shyrl, dam of last season’s smart sprinter Raucous, the Listed-placed Imperialism and Paradise Sea, a half-sister to Group 1 winner David Junior.
