'A nice prospect' - Nancy J scores well on debut
14 August 2024
Nancy J made a sparkling start to her career on Wednesday when the taking winner of her debut at Gowran Park.
The first horse to run in Imad Al Sagar's colours in Ireland for trainer Jessica Harrington, Nancy J was able to assume a good position just off the leaders for Shane Foley before striking for home and repelling the inside challenge of Dignam.
In the process she landed a €50,000 Goffs bonus.
"It's always good when they win here first time out," said Shane Foley. "Nancy J has always been very professional at home and she seems to do her work easy.
"I had a nice draw, I winged the gates and I slipstreamed Dylan [Browne McMonagle] all the way. She picked up like she was going to go away and win well but she had a good look and was quite green. She should improve loads and she's a nice prospect."
The daughter of Ten Sovereigns was purchased by Hugo Merry as agent with Blue Diamond Stud from the draft of her breeder Lynn Lodge Stud at last year's Goffs Orby Sale. Out of the Oasis Dream mare Anne Of Kiev, she is a half-sister to five winners including Grade 2 scorer Yonkers.
