'A filly with a future' - BDS-bred What About Us impresses
30 May 2026
The progressive What About Us gained a deserved win on Friday when outclassing the opposition in the 7f maiden at Down Royal.
The flashy daughter of Siyouni, who was bred by Blue Diamond Stud and sold through our Goffs Orby draft in 2024, wasn't challenged to win easily under Joey Sheridan by three-and-a-half lengths.
Michael Halford, representative to trainer Joseph O'Brien, said: "She was probably beaten by a smart filly (Glyfada) in Killarney, and she has come forward nicely in herself since then.
"She did it very comfortably this evening. She travelled like a winner through the race but, once he asked her to quicken up, she quickened up well and put it to bed.
"With a lot of these well-bred fillies, the aim is obviously to get them as high-rated as you can and go for a bit of black-type with them along the way. You would (see her in that company) — she's a filly with a future, I think. She's improving with racing."
A top three finisher in each of her four starts to date, What About Us carries the colours of Sean and Bernardine Mulryan, Magnier and Shanahan, who bought her through Avenue Bloodstock as a Tattersalls Ireland breezer. She was originally bought by New Blood Bloodstock from us at the 2024 Goffs Orby Sale.
She is out of Nadia Promise, a Galileo half-sister to our homebred Listed winner Nouriya, in turn dam of our Group 2 Royal Ascot heroine Aljazzi.
