7-length win for promising 2yo homebred Mr Khalid
14 October 2015
Mr Khalid looked a colt of immense promise for Marco Botti on Wednesday when running away with his second start, a two-year-old maiden at Nottingham, by seven lengths.
Ridden by Adam Kirby, Mr Khalid (pictured right as a yearling) was always in command and quickened clear to win as he pleased. In the process, he became the third winner of the week for his first crop sire Pour Moi.
Making his win particularly special is the fact he was bred and raised at Blue Diamond Stud – in fact, he was the first ever foal born by his Derby-winning sire.
Mr Khalid is the second foal and winner out of Island Dreams, a Giant’s Causeway half-sister to the Group 2-winning miler Rob Roy from the further family of Grade 1-winning mare Super Staff.
Island Dreams has a yearling filly by Sayif and a filly foal by Oasis Dream.
She is in foal to Mastercraftsman.
Island Dreams was purchased by Tony Nerses for 190,000gns while carrying this colt at the 2012 Tattersalls October Sale. Incidentally, she was sold by Clare Castle Stud, from whom Tony also bought Blue Diamond foundation mare Majestic Sakeena as well champion Authorized.
