BDS-bred Emirates Currency seals successful Saturday at Meydan

No sooner had Amtiyaz crossed the line at Kempton Park, then it was the turn of his former paddock mate Emirates Currency to shine with a deserved victory at Meydan in Dubai.
The Muhaarar colt was bred at Blue Diamond Stud by Saleh Al Homaizi and Imad Al Sagar out of Loulwa. He becomes the sixth winner out of the mare, a daughter of Montjeu who carried our colours to victory in the Listed River Eden Stakes. She is also dam of our multiple Listed winner Justineo, a brilliantly fast horse who now lives in retirement at Blue Diamond Stud.
Emirates Currency, who was placed twice for Clive Cox, was well fancied to get off the mark in the 1m1f maiden at Meydan for Ali Al Rayhi on Saturday and under a confident ride from Connor Beasley, ran down stablemate Welcome Surprise and win going away.
“It was a very good run,” said Connor Beasley. “The last run was a bold one, he didn’t just see it out. Today we had a good draw, and we wanted to get him to relax through the first part and then weave through. He has gone about his job and got his head in front at the right time.”
Emirates Currency was sold as a yearling through Voute Sales for 65,000gns to Ahmad al Shaikh at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Sale.
