Decorated Valentine gift for Blue Diamond Stud

15 February 2020

Blue Diamond Stud received a memorable Valentine’s Day present on Friday in the birth of another excellent foal by Decorated Knight.

The filly is the second foal out of Arwa, whose first foal is a yearling colt also by Decorated Knight.

Arwa is a winning Holy Roman Emperor half-sister to champion Order Of St George. The legendary stayer won 12 races for Aidan O’Brien including the Group 1 Ascot Gold Cup, twice, and the Group 2 British Champions Long Distance Cup. He was also placed in the Group 1 Irish St Leger and Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.

Another half-brother, Asperity, won the Group 3 Prix Paul de Moussac while a half-sister, Angel Terrace, was a Grade 3 winner in North America.

Arwa now visits Camelot.

A tough, sound son of Galileo gifted with an exceptional turn of foot, Decorated Knight defeated the likes of Churchill and Poet’s Word when successful in the 2017 Irish Champion Stakes. He was also dominant in victory in the Tattersalls Gold Cup and put his exceptional turn of foot to good use when getting out of trouble to take the Jebel Hatta.

Making Decorated Knight particularly attractive is that he hails from the exceptional stallion family of Giant’s Causeway, a 3-time North American champion sire.

Indeed, Decorated Knight’s first foals were extremely well received last year, selling for up to 190,000gns. The colt in question is out of Group 3 winner Princess Noor and was bought by Jamie Railton at the Tattersalls December Foal Sale.

His foals also sold for up to €66,000 at the Goffs November Sale.

Decorated Knight will stand for €9,000 in 2020 and will once again be strongly supported by Blue Diamond Stud.
