Another accolade for Decorated Knight
4 February 2018
Decorated Knight gained another accolade on Friday when named Britain’s highest earning Flat horse of 2017 by Team British Racing. Tony Nerses was on hand in Newmarket to collect the award.
Decorated Knight has provided us with many wonderful moments over the past few seasons, winning eight races and £1,326,618 in earnings. Latterly trained by Roger Charlton, he enjoyed his finest moment when swooping to victory in last year’s Group 1 Irish Champion Stakes, with the likes of Churchill and Eminent in arrears, having previously been dominant in victory in the Tattersalls Gold Cup at the Curragh. He also put his exceptional turn of foot to good use when getting out of trouble to take the Jebel Hatta at Meydan in March.
Decorated Knight was bred in Newmarket at Blue Diamond Stud by Saleh Al Homaizi and Imad Al Sagar out of Pearling, who joined the stud when purchased by Tony Nerses in 2011.
The son of Galileo is the first foal out of Pearling, a daughter of blue hen Mariah’s Storm and therefore a sister to 3-time North American champion sire Giant’s Causeway, champion New York sire Freud and Group 2 winner You’resothrilling, the dam of Group 1 winners Gleneagles, Marvellous and Happily.
Decorated Knight is standing his first season at the Irish National Stud for €15,000. He will be strongly supported by Saleh Al Homaizi and Imad Al Sagar, who are sending 25 of their best mares.
